Derek Nicholson is The Director of Strategy & Planning at Alpha Dhabi Holding which is a leading holding and investment company listed on ADX. He leads the group’s research to identify diversification opportunities into new sectors and countries, as well as driving strategic growth across Alpha Dhabi’s existing portfolio.

With over 27 years of experience, including 11 in the Middle East, he has experience of multiple business sectors including Investment Banking, Oil & Gas, Real Estate and Healthcare. During his career Derek has led multiple M&A, investment and divestment transactions across all stages of the business cycle. He previously held roles at Barclays and Standard Life Investments (now ABRDN) as well as a large private conglomerate in the UAE.

Derek is a qualified accountant and has also completed courses at INSEAD and Harvard Business School.
